Named in Adelaide to honor the Battle of Hamel during World War One, this battle was a pivotal joint operation between the Australian Army, the United States Army, and British forces. Commanded by Lieutenant General John Monash, the successful assault against German positions near Le Hamel in northern France marked a crucial moment in military history.
